Can you help in contacting this priest?

I wonder if you can help.
My cousins, Des and June Whelan, now living in Sydney, Australia,
are attempting to trace their friend Fr. Pat McInerney.  I think
they may have previously known him either in Bombay or New York
many years ago.
I knew him slightly through his contributions to RTE programmes in
the 1060s and 1970s – he was then sometimes known as Tom McInerney
and was, I think, a member of the Dominican order.
If you known of Fr. Pat’s (or Tom’s) whereabouts, I would be very
grateful if you could contact me as soon as possible.  Des and
June are going back to Sydney next Wednesday or Thursday.
Kind regards,
Rhoda Draper

Rhoda, this may be a very long shot!
If in fact your cousins’ friend is Pat rather than Tom, and a Columban SSC rather than a Dominican, and a South Australian rather than Irish or Dublin-based, and spent 20 years in Pakistan rather than in Mumbai/Bombay, they may find him in Sydney or Strathfield on their return rather than in Ireland where you suggest they are this week!
    Ask them to try:
    http:www.cis.catholic.edu.au/index.php/faculty/faculty-staff-whos-who/100
They can check the photo and cv of Dr/Fr Patrick McInerney there and see if its their long-lost friend.

Very many thanks, Eddie; I’ll pass this on.
Des and June did, in fact, live in Karachi when they were first married and it may well have been in Pakistan that they met Pat McInerney.
I’ve looked up Rev. Dr. McInerney’s picture on that website and it doesn’t ring an immediate bell as he was clean-shaven when I met him -and it was nearly 40 years ago! I did find one very brief reference to a Dominican Pat McInerney in Tallaght in a Google search – but there was no useful information as to his present whereabouts.
    Thanks again!
    Rhoda

  3. Columban Fr Pat McInerney was ordained in 1978 and went to Pakistan the following year, I think, when the Columbans opened a new mission there. So I don’t think he’s the person in question.

Fr Tom (Pat) McInerney lives in St Mary’s Dominican Priory, Tallaght. However, your request does not give any address or telephone number for him to contact Des and June Wilson. If you send me this, I will pass it on to Fr Tom.
