Every Blessing this Easter

These days are about reflecting upon, commemorating, and celebrating the central themes of our Christian faith.
Sometimes it’s good to stand back and take a break, especially from the frantic pace of life and especially from the often  frenetic world of social media and the internet.
Maybe it would be good for all of us to pause and slow down over the Easter period and take a rest from computer, laptop, tablet or phone. I fully intend to do just that.
Of course, if you wish, feel free to continue to post comments to the website over the Easter but comments will not be moderated or published until Easter Monday.

I wish you an enjoyable and happy Eastertime.
Mattie Long

    A song from my primary school days, every April without fail it comes back to me, the imagery is so wonderful.
    All in an April Evening by Katharine Tynan
    All in the April morning,
    April airs were abroad;
    The sheep with their little lambs
    Pass’d me by on the road.
    The sheep with their little lambs
    Pass’d me by on the road;
    All in an April evening
    I thought on the Lamb of God.
    The lambs were weary, and crying
    With a weak human cry,
    I thought on the Lamb of God
    Going meekly to die.
    Up in the blue, blue mountains
    Dewy pastures are sweet:
    Rest for the little bodies,
    Rest for the little feet.
    But for the Lamb of God
    Up on the hill-top green,
    Only a cross of shame
    Two stark crosses between.
    All in the April evening,
    April airs were abroad;
    I saw the sheep with their lambs,
    And thought on the Lamb of God
    Happy Easter too 🙂

    It’s still Good Friday, and March, here in Japan! Once more the price of political correctness in bible translations hits me when I read: “He was despised and rejected by OTHERS [KJV men]… as one from whom OTHERS [KJV men] hide their faces…. All we like sheep have gone astray; we have all turned to our own way” [KJV and Handel: “every one to his own way”]

    This beautiful poem brings back so many memories for me. I used to recite it so often to myself . I had forgotten some of the verses so was absolutely delighted when my husband found it and forwarded it to me. It’s so apt for Easter . Thank you for publishing itv
    Kind regards
    Ann
