New book on Fr Tom Hamill 1939-2020

Tom Hamill was a priest, Biblical scholar, poet and musician, who grew up in Dundalk, Co Louth. He was ordained for the Archdiocese of Armagh in 1964. After further studies in Rome, Tom joined Fr Bobby McKenna and others in setting up the Mount Oliver Institute, Dundalk where Tom was Biblical Studies tutor before becoming Director. He died in 2020.

Three of his former students, Clare O’Malley, Muireann Scully Maguire and Mairéad Heaney, collated a series of tributes, his poems, rituals, prayers and blessings into this wonderful publication. It is a fitting tribute to a unique man.

The book, What’re ye like? – Remembering Fr Tom Hamill, will be launched on Wed 2nd April 2025 at 4.00pm in The Friary, Anne St, Dundalk, A91 XW2T by Fr Donagh O’Meara. All welcome.

The book is available by post from https://www.mayobooks.ie/Hamill-Tom-Father-Like-9781739966270 – €20 plus P&P.
