ACP AGM and Membership Appeal

Dear Member

Diary Date: ACP AGM Wed 5 Nov 2025 in the Radisson Blu Hotel, Athlone.

All members are invited to attend our AGM in Athlone. It will run from 2.00pm-5.00pm. We have two main speakers:

Martin Whelan: The Canonical Rights of Diocesan Priests

Fr Martin Whelan is a priest of the Galway Diocese. He serves as parish priest of Moycullen, Co Galway. He is also chancellor of the diocese and judicial vicar of the Galway Regional Marriage Tribunal. He received his licence in canon law from KU Leuven, Belgium.

Martin Delaney: Shepherding the Shepherds – When Obedience Meets Care: Walking Together in Times of Change

Fr Martin Delaney is Parish Priest of both Rathdowney and Durrow. He will explore the challenges of making clerical changes in our new reality, where many priests are asked to take on extra parishes.

We will also have updates on the Synodal Pathway and Care of Priests.

Another topic of discussion will be ACP membership. We currently have circa 1,000 members. Our annual subscription is €30. If everyone paid membership on time our association could operate in a smooth manner…unfortunately, many are late and this puts huge pressure on our ability to operate effectively.

The membership stipend has not increased since our inception. Costs have! Should we increase membership to €50? €100?

Membership fees pay for secretarial back-up to the Leadership Team and Advisory Committee; update and maintain a website with its daily homily resources; and provide regular Zoom presentations on matters of interest. We also keep a keen eye on topics of the day and issue press releases on a regular basis. Providing care and support for priests in any kind of difficulty is at the core of what the ACP is.

We need your financial support to continue our work. Thanks to those who have recently joined the ACP and those who renewed their membership; our appeal to others is to please renew immediately. If you are in a position to give more please do so. All cheques should be made payable to:
