Julieann Moran: Continuing the Synodal Journey as Pilgrims of Hope

Continuing the Synodal Journey as Pilgrims of Hope
Rev Prof Eamonn Conway explores what it means to be “pilgrims of hope” in today’s world. He begins by acknowledging the many signs of Christian hope already present in daily acts of kindness, service, and faith, while also naming the deep despair experienced by many, particularly younger generations, amid loneliness, mental health struggles, and global instability.

Drawing on cultural examples, current research, and voices from philosophy and theology, Eamonn highlights the pressing need for meaning, belonging, and a renewed vision of hope rooted in faith rather than distraction or despair. He shares how synodality provides a pathway for living this hope today.

The message is clear: to be pilgrims of hope is to walk together, rooted in faith, towards a future shaped by trust, meaning, and renewal. This presentation was delivered in Belfast as part of the Hearts on Fire conference in June. You can watch the full video by clicking on it below!
