Palm Sunday – Bidding prayers
Introduction (by the Presider): Let us bring our prayer to God, our strength, who makes haste to help us.
- That the poor people of the world may be inspired by the love of Pope Francis (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That Christians may follow Christ, who taught people to serve rather than be served (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That all who believe in Christ in Ireland may join in the Holy Week services (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That the Jewish people, our brothers and sisters in faith, may be blessed (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That those who take up the cross today, in torture or in pain, may have Christ by their side (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- That people who are sick or in hospital may find new hope at Easter (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
The presider prays for the dead, ‘that they may journey through the valley of death to resurrection’ (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
Conclusion (by the Presider): God of compassion, in the death and resurrection of Jesus, you show your love for us. Hear our petitions, and grant them, through Christ our Lord. Amen
