Opening Comment
Everyone who believes God’s word is called to pass on the Good News. Like many who have gone before us, including the prophet Isaiah and the apostles Paul, and Peter, we may not feel up to the task. But God helps us every day.
Penitential Rite
We call to mind our weakness at the start of Mass, always relying on God’s strength: (Pause)
You raise the dead to life in the Spirit: Lord, have mercy.
You bring pardon and peace to the sinner: Christ, have mercy.
You bring light to those in darkness: Lord, have mercy.
Alternative Opening Prayer (from 1998 ICEL Missal)
Most holy God,
the earth is filled with your glory,
and in your presence angels stand in awe.
Enlarge our vision,
that we may recognise your power at work in your Son
and join the apostles and prophets
as heralds of your saving word.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
God for ever and ever.
Introduction to the Scripture Readings
Isaiah 6:1-8 Isaiah sees the holiness of God and is called to be God’s messenger.
1 Corinthians 15:1-11 Paul summarises his message: he preaches the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.
Luke 5:1-11 Jesus calls fishermen to help him in his mission. Though they feel unworthy, like Isaiah, they follow him.
BIDDING PRAYERS
Introduction (by the Presider) God’s love is eternal, so with confidence we present our needs.
- For peace in the world — especially between Russia and Ukraine (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- For peace among us — as we continue to recover from the Pandemic (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- For fishermen, and all who work on the sea — that God may protect them (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- For victims of human trafficking — that they may be guarded from danger (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- For those who suffer because of abuse or violence — that they may see justice done (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- For sick people, especially those sick because of COVID-19 — that God may make them better (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
The Presider prays for the dead: For all who have gone before us in faith, those who have lost their lives at sea and those from this community for whom we pray this Sunday (especially N and N), that they may sing God’s praises with the angelic host (pause a moment for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
Conclusion (by the Presider) Loving God, your faithfulness has no bounds, let your hand guide your people, who bring their prayers in faith, through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord God,
you have provided food and drink
to sustain our earthly life;
grant, we pray, that this bread and wine
may become the sacrament that gives eternal life.

PREFACE for Saturday evening Mass (Ordinary Time 4)
It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
holy Father, almighty and eternal God,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
His birth brought the human race a new beginning;
by his suffering he wiped away our sins;
by rising from the dead he opened the way to eternal life;
and by his ascension to you, Father, he unlocked the gates of heaven.
And so we join the throng of saints and angels
as they sing the unending hymn of your praise: HOLY, HOLY, HOLY….
PREFACE for any Sunday Mass (Ordinary Time 9)
It is truly right and just,
our duty and our salvation,
always and everywhere to give you thanks,
holy Father, almighty and eternal God.
From sunrise to sunset this day is holy,
for Christ has risen upon us today
and scattered the darkness of death
with light and life that will not fade.
This day the risen Lord assembles us,
unfolds for us your word,
and breaks for us the bread of life.
And though the night will bring this Sunday to a close,
you call us to live in endless light,
the never-ending Day of the Lord.
And so, with the choirs of angels,
with all the heavenly host,
we proclaim your glory
and join their unending chorus of praise: HOLY, HOLY, HOLY
EUCHARISTIC PRAYER II (with interpolation for Sunday mornings)
Lord, you are holy indeed,
you are the fountain of all holiness.
[In communion with the whole Church,
we have assembled on this day which you have made holy,
and, rejoicing that you have made us a new creation in your risen Son,
we pray:]
Send down your Spirit upon these gifts to make them holy,
that they may become for us
the body + and blood of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Before he was given up to death,
a death he freely accepted,
he took bread and gave you thanks;
he broke the bread,
gave it to his disciples, and said:
TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT IT:
THIS IS MY BODY, WHICH WILL BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

The mystery of faith…..
Remembering therefore his death and resurrection,
we offer you, Lord God,
this life-giving bread, this saving cup.
We thank you for counting us worthy
to stand in your presence and serve you.
We pray that all of us who share in the body and blood of Christ
may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.
Lord, remember your Church throughout the world:
perfect us in love
together with Francis our Pope and N. our Bishop,
with all bishops, priests, and deacons,
and all who minister to your people.
Remember our brothers and sisters
who have gone to their rest
in the sure hope of rising again;
bring them and all who have died in your mercy
into the light of your presence.
Have mercy on us all:
make us worthy to share eternal life,
with Mary, the virgin Mother of God,
with the apostles and with all the saints,
who have found favour with you throughout the ages;
in union with them
may we praise you and give you glory
through your Son, Jesus Christ.
Through him, with him, In him,
in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
all glory and honour is yours, almighty Father,
for ever and ever.
PRAYER AFTER COMMUNION
Merciful God,
you have invited us to share
in the one bread and the one cup.
Enable us to live as one in Christ
and to labour gladly for the salvation of all.
Grant this in the name of Jesus, the Lord.
