There are echoes of the Christmas season in today’s liturgy, particularly in the Gospel story of the wedding feast of Cana, in which God’s glory becomes visible in Jesus, as it did at his Epiphany and Baptism.

Today we celebrate the first Sunday of Lent. All over the world today, people of all ages are beginning their preparation period for baptism at the Easter Vigil. Like them, we begin our own preparations for Easter, looking forward to renewing our baptismal vows and being blessed with Easter water.
23rd Sunday Ordinary Time — Bidding Prayers etc
God’s healing power was seen in the ministry of Jesus, and continues in the sacraments, in advances in medicine and in the work of the caring professions. Today we pray for strength, trusting that God will continue to show compassion to the whole world.
Daily Mass readings app launched
The ACP Leadership Team presents an app containing Mass readings and homily material for each day of 2014, prepared by the ACP homily material contributor, Fr Pat Rogers cp, Mount Argus.
The Bidding Prayers have never been easy to find on this site, so any improvement to access is to be welcomed. Even tonight, I still cannot find them for this Sunday, Palm Sunday. Readers may be aware that Bidding Prayers or Prayer of the Faithful is available for each Sunday and Holyday on the Association of Catholics in Ireland website http://www.acireland.ie, generally just before noon on the previous Friday.
