What kind of leadership does the Roman Catholic Church truly need today? Is it still possible—or even desirable—for one person to carry the full weight of guiding a global faith community in the 21st century?Join Root & Branch at The Tablet on Wednesday for a timely and thought-provoking webinar as we explore what leadership and collaboration could—and should—look like within a Christian context today. This conversation brings together an inspiring panel of Catholic women leaders and thinkers who are reshaping the dialogue on authority, inclusion, and the future of our Church.
WHO ARE PAPABILE WOMEN?
‘Papabile’ in this context means, fit to lead. They are women who are at the forefront of their field, and they are legion.

One quarter of the world’s schools, colleges, hospitals,  clinics, refuges and places of social safety are run by the Catholic Church. And most of these are run by women.

Yet not one woman may change so much as a single full stop of the Church’s teaching. What a loss!

We can highlight only a tiny handful of women who by their abilities, skills, persistence and wisdom effect real leadership in spades.

The world recognises them. Our Church does not.

“Male and female created He them”, in the image and likeness of God. The Church would collapse without its women. Yet we continue to watch as a hundred plus old men select another old man whilst we are instructed that this is what our (male) God wants.

Enough!
