The Messenger – September issue preview

September Messenger celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Basilica in Knock as well as three inspirational religious figures, all of whose causes for beatification are before the Church:  Fr Flanagan of Boys Town, Fr Ante Gabrić SJ, who served the poorest communities of Bengal, and the gifted orator Archbishop Fulton Sheen, who used his gift of oration to reach Catholics in a series of radio broadcasts across the USA. 

We mark the 2026 Season of Creation (1 Sept-4 Oct) with a call for the just and sustainable management of water, a precious and now scarce resource, a feature on St Francis of Assisi, praise for the Irish Bishops’ support for the fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty and details on the Jesuit Centre for Ecology and Development (JCED)’s work to improve food security in Malawi, one of the poorest countries on earth.
