Ascension of the Lord — Bidding prayers

Introduction (by the Presider): With confidence, let us bring our prayers before God, the Most High.

  1. For those baptised at Easter, that they may always be happy in God (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  2. For the children receiving First Communion at this time of year, that the Bread of Life may help them (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  3. For milder weather, to help the grass to grow (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  4. For people away from home, that God may take care of them (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  5. For missionaries, that the Holy Spirit may be in their hearts (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  6. For those preparing for exams, that the Spirit may guide them (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.

The presider prays for the dead, those who died during the week and those whose anniversaries occur, ‘that where Christ the saviour has gone, they may soon follow’ (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider): Lord Most High, great king over all the earth, you are ever ready to help your people in their distress. Hear and grant the prayers we make, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
