Fourth Sunday of Lent – Bidding Prayers

Introduction (by the Presider): Let us bring our prayers to God, who rescues us from all our distress.

  1. That all who follow Christ may return to the embrace of their loving Father this Lent (pause for quiet prayer): Lord, hear us.
  2. That our Church may be freed from corruption and renewed in spirit  (pause for quiet prayer): Lord, hear us.
  3. That the Holy Spirit may guide the cardinals who will elect the new pope (pause for quiet prayer): Lord, hear us.
  4. That people who have fallen out with each other may be reconciled (pause for quiet prayer): Lord, hear us.
  5. That there may be peace and forgiveness in families (pause for quiet prayer): Lord, hear us.
  6. That our mothers may be blessed this day, and that mothers who have died may rest in peace (pause for quiet prayer): Lord, hear us.

The presider prayers for the dead, remembering especially those who have died tragically in the past week ‘that God may bring to Paradise all who have died and comfort the grieving’ (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider): O God, you love your people unceasingly: hear the prayers we make in faith through Christ our Lord. amen
