Julieann Moran: Synod Update

News from the Universal Synod (Midway Point)
The second assembly of the universal Synod on synodality is now at its halfway point and there has been much news coming from the press conferences, video content, and live-streamed prayer services. For those who missed the penitential service on 1 October, the full service can be found on Vatican News’ English-Speaking YouTube Channel here, or you can click on the video below.

Please be advised that none of these videos should ever ask you to make a donation to any organisation before viewing!

Ecumenical Prayer Service
On Friday, 11 October the synod participants celebrated an Ecumenical prayer vigil in the Square of the Roman Protomartyrs, which was presided over by Pope Francis. According to tradition, this is where the martyrdom of St. Peter took place. You can watch the full prayer service by clicking here or on the video image below.
Public Forums
A further initiative from this assembly has been the public forums. Two “Theological-Pastoral Forums” took place on Wednesday afternoon, 9 October. Both of them can viewed online on Vatican News’ YouTube channel or by clicking on the titles here: “The People of God, subject of the Mission” and “The Role and Authority of the Bishop in a Synodal Church.” Two more forums will be held tomorrow, 16 October and may be livestreamed by Vatican News.
Plenty More Video Content
Both Vatican News and the universal synod office have plenty more video content online, including a recent video short with Irish sister Mary T Barron, OLA, who is there representing the religious superiors. Sr Mary’s video is available below. Much more content can be accessed on Vatican News’ playlist here and Synod.va’s playlist here.
