On the Death of Bishop Brendan Comiskey
On the occasion of the death of Bishop Brendan Comiskey the leadership of the Association of Catholic Priests wish to offer sincere sympathy to the family, relations and friends of Bishop Brendan, and also to all those who benefited in so many ways from his long years of ministry.
Brendan inspired us through his openness and his vision of Church.
He was not perfect: none of us are.
We trust that all those who loved him will find consolation in the words of Revelation: “They will see the Lord face to face and His name will be written on their foreheads. It will never be night again and they will not need lamplight or sunlight, because the Lord God will be shining on them.”

It was my honor to have had Brendan as one of my seminary professors and friend later. He truly led the path forward from Vat II. As we priests of Boston were encouraging Cardinal Law to accept his complicity in the sexual abuse of minors Brendan’s stepping up honestly and stepping down bravely provided much comfort and hope. A lovely man and loving pastor.
