Third Sunday of Advent — Bidding prayers

Introduction (by the Presider): Let us bring our prayers to God, our strength and our salvation.

  1. For all who follow Christ, that they may be happy, as they prepare for the Lord’s coming (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  2. For those who suffer from hunger and want, that the well-off may share with those in need this Christmas (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  3. For people whose hearts are broken, that their friends may bring them comfort (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  4. For prisoners, immigrants and homeless people, that they will know God cares for them when people are kind to them (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  5. For all who have died (especially our friends who died at this time of year), that eternal joy may be theirs (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  6. For those who are in any kind of need, especially the people we remember now (long pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider): God our saviour, we rejoice in your mighty deeds. Give us your help, we pray, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
