4th Sunday in Ordinary Time – Bidding Prayers
Introduction (by the presider): God is our hope, our salvation, so we bring forward all our needs:
- For the Church and all who are part of it — that we may love each other more and more (pause for quiet prayer) Lord, hear us.
- For those called to be prophets — that they may speak the truth, no matter how unpopular it makes them (pause for quiet prayer) Lord, hear us.
- For people of all religions and none — that they may work for justice and peace (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- For ourselves as we continue on the journey of life, that we may help each other along the road (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us
- For older people — that they may be cherished for their wisdom (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
- For those whose throats are being blessed these days — that they may be spared from illness (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
The Presider prays for the dead: ‘that they may know perfect love in heaven’ (pause for quiet prayer): Lord, hear us.
Then:
Conclusion (by the Presider): Lord our God, you are a rock where we can take refuge: hear our prayers and grant us your sustaining grace, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
