26 June Feast of The Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi)

    Theme

God’s people in the desert were fed by miraculous provision of food and drink. Our heavenly Father continues to feed us with the body and blood of his Son, as celebrated in this feast of Corpus Christi. He continues to nourish us spiritually by this wonderful gift of the Real Presence, food for our souls, so that as Jesus declared, “whoever eats me will live because of me.”

    A Compassionate Heart

Long before he fulfilled Isaiah’s prophecy of the suffering servant by his death on the cross, Jesus had been living out the prophetic words by his daily responses to people. It seems he could not pass by a sick person, without being moved to compassion. The one asking for help might be a foreigner, even one of the despised Roman occupation

    The Law above all laws

Laws are kept and laws are disregarded. When Jesus cured the man of some type of contagious skin disease , he reminded him, “See to it that you tell no one. Go and show yourself to the priest and offer the gift Moses preScribed. That should be the proof they need.” We can’t help wondering, couldn’t the priests get along without the

    Long-term Effects

Abram and Sarah followed the custom of their time, when children were the surest way to secure human rights and dignity in one’s old age. After many years of marriage, they had no children, so in desperation, Sarah turned to the local custom that allowed a surrogate wife to bear her child. Yet once Hagar, the Egyptian maidservant, had conceived, she now scorned her mistress for being childless; and

    Test Of A Tree

When Jesus stated that a good tree is known by its good fruit, he was referring to the annual fruit harvest rather than to a single harvest, once for all time. At the same time he warned how some people could be misled, “Be on guard against false

    Coping with Success

Today’s texts manifest the age-old truth that success goes to the head, power corrupts and prosperity can make even good people greedy for more. It seems that in life we cope better with hopes than with their fulfillment. People who must work hard and pass through all the stages of developing a business, a farm, or a family

    Humility like Abraham’s

Abram’s call in Genesis 12 marks the beginning of Israel’s salvation history, the monumental moment when this rugged nomad was called to migrate to the land of promise and eventually become a sign of blessing for everyone on earth. But

19 June Sunday Feast of The Most Holy Trinity

    Theme

We were created in the image of a profoundly personal God, who is by inmost nature trinitarian, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. We reflect God’s image at our best, when we are at our most creative, compassionate and charismatic. Today’s Scriptures present the gracious holiness of God (first reading), the centrality of love as God’s most precious gift (2nd reading), and the Father’s outpouring of grace upon our world, through the Son and the Spirit.

    Trinity Sunday — Liturgy Preparation

On Trinity Sunday, Christians are invited to reflect on the mystery of God: the One who creates, redeems and sanctifies, three persons, one God, without end.

    Thorns in the Flesh

About the reversal of values, Paul writes, “I must go on boasting, however useless it may be.” Even if he had visions and revelations of the Lord and was caught up to Paradise “to hear words which cannot be uttered,” he feels the foolishness of talking about it and says he will boast no more except about his weakness, which God helps

    Something to Boast About

Today’s words from the Sermon on the Mount touch on a problem we instinctively feel about Paul’s boasting and the moral collapse which follows inflated ambition (*2). Jesus puts it bluntly: “Do not lay up for yourselves an earthly treasure. Moths and rust corrode… Instead, store up heavenly treasure…. If your vision is bad, you

    Words can clear the air

Some people at Corinth must have accused Paul of merely “rattling” words – of being just a talker, not a doer. In their gossip they must have complained that he should manifest a more tolerant and patient attitude towards their faults. Yet Paul did not back down but stated his personal independence and his privilege of speaking openly

    The Cheerful Giver

We must live for God rather than to be seen by others; act silently rather than ostentatiously. At the same time, we cannot do without the good example of others. There is a great value in remembering God’s deeds in the lives of his saints. If Moses and Joshua, Elijah and Elisha, or Jesus and Paul had performed all of their works in

    The Power of Generosity

Whenever we hear the gospel command to love our enemies and to pray for our persecutors, we think of Jesus’ own heroic example, praying for his executioners, as he hung on the cross (Luke 22:34). Paul, today, also pleads for generosity as he tells the church at Corinth about the evident kindness of the churches of Macedonia. He was now collecting alms from the Corinthians for the church at Jerusalem, coming to

    Heroic Endurance

The first readings convey a sense of helpless indignation. In Naboth (2*) we have an instance of a good and decent man, betrayed by his neighbours just to please the government (the royal pair). The tragedy begins in the greed of a king who always got what he wanted – like a spoiled child who never grew up. But why shouldn’t a

    12 June Pentecost Sunday

As the Holy Spirit inspired courage and energy in the apostles, at the beginning, so the Spirit brings about inspiration and fruitfulness in our lives today, through love, joy, peace, patience, and self-control.

    Pentecost Sunday — Liturgy Preparation

On Pentecost Day Christians  celebrate ‘the great beginning of the Church’, the day the Holy Spirit first came to confused and frightened disciples. During the gathering for worship, we praise God for this great Gift, and ask for a new outpouring in our day.

    Ending On A High Note

The readings for this day are drawn from the final verses of Acts and of John’s gospel. Acts rounds out the total theological purpose of St. Luke, which extended from his earlier book, the gospel, into his second book, called The Acts of the Apostles. Luke’s gospel moves from Old Testament Jerusalem (Chs. 1-2) or from the Jordan River where the conquest of the Promised Land once began under Joshua

    A Sacred Trust

The sequence of events is important, so natural and yet so filled with spiritual meaning that we must delay here. Youth is marked by an active pursuit of goals. Many options open out before a young man or young woman. With study, experimentation and advice they freely decide. As a person gets older, a more passive acceptance of the inevitable seems to be the only option. As we become still older

    Making God Known

Jesus signals unity as the most characteristic mark of his disciples, the sign and the goal of true faith, when he prayed: “that they may be one in us, that the world may believe that you sent me.” Paul of Tarsus appears in today’s reading, yet not as a messenger of peace and unity. He deliberately stirred a discussion, which he knew would turn into a shouting match and then into physical abuse. He got the

    15 March 2026 – 4th Sunday of Lent, Year A

    March 15 2026
    Thara Benedicta
Key Message: Your Story is for God's Glory!! Homily: A girl was wearing sunglasses even in cold weather. When her friend enquired why, the girl replied, "Since I do not have good looks, people tend to avoid me. But when I wear this costly sunglass, people speak with me without any sign of hesitation". Have you ever felt left out because of your appearance or status? Have you ever felt unwanted by people? David was also of the same status. His own father ignored him and did not even call him to be there, when the Prophet Samuel asked Jesse to bring all his sons. None of his other sons thought about this shepherd brother. David also knew that no one wanted him. He was ignored by everyone. But instead of spending his time worrying about his pitiful situation, he spent his time happily praising God. He spent his entire day praising God with his harp. God was enjoying His songs. He filled His entire day by communicating with God. God loved Him and He loved God. They both were sufficient for each other. When you feel rejected, spend your time with Jesus, who is always longing to spend time with you. When the shepherd boy David became King David, he still had the same relationship with God. Now he is not ignored but he is respected by his whole kingdom. Still, he reciprocates the same feelings he had as a shepherd boy, “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.” Saint Paul invites us to have the same relationship with our Lord Jesus, who is the light of the world Light reveals what darkness hides. When we are in light, we will know what is correct and wrong. With Jesus as our light, we will have clarity in our thoughts and the next steps to be taken. He will guide you where you need to go. This leads us to the Gospel. Jesus meets a man who has been blind since birth. The disciples immediately start asking theological questions: “Who sinned?” They root cause every suffering to a sin. But Jesus gives a new perspective. This suffering is for the glory of God. So when others despise you that you are suffering because of your past sins, you can confidently say, "My story is for God's glory to be revealed". Then our Lord Jesus does something unusual. He makes mud, puts it on the man’s eyes, and tells him to wash in the pool of Siloam. The man obeys, washes, and suddenly he can see. Our Lord Jesus can do a miracle not in the way we expect, it can be in a total different way. After the miracle, our Lord always asks us to wash our wastes. After raising Lazarus up, our Lord asked them to unwind Lazarus from his grave clothes. Here the blind person had to wash his eyes to see. So after our Lord Jesus performs a miracle, we have to do our simple part to actually experience the miracle. What to do after the miracle? That our Lord Jesus Christ will reveal. He will not expect us to do something that He has not told us to do. So the message will reach us somehow. It can be even as a thought. But the real miracle in this story is not only physical sight, it is spiritual sight. As the story unfolds, the blind man begins to see more clearly who Jesus is. At first he says, “The man called Jesus healed me.” Then he says, “He is a prophet.” Finally, when Jesus meets him again, the man says, “Lord, I believe.” Meanwhile, the Pharisees who think they see everything clearly refuse to believe. They question, argue, and reject the truth standing right in front of them. And Jesus says something striking: “Those who do not see may see, and those who think they see may become blind.” In other words, the greatest blindness is not in the eyes, it is in the heart. The parents of the blind persons were also afraid. They could have told the same words that their son had told. But they refused to proclaim the great miracle for their son. When our Lord Jesus came to know that the once upon blind person was driven out, our Lord went in search of him. He spoke with him, revealed that it God Himself speaking to him and opened his spiritual eyes too. So do not allow fear to keep you away from experiencing God's Blessings!!

Synod Report (and reactions): On women’s participation in the life and leadership of the Church

    March 12 2026
    Colm Holmes
WE ARE CHURCH Press Release 14 March 2026: PATRIARCHY Rules! We Are Church International is very disappointed with the Final Report for Study Group 5 on Women which confirms that the Patriarchy has one clear priority: NO ORDINATION FOR WOMEN. Their fear of schism means discrimination against women will continue and we will lose even more women and their gifts from our church! The long report for Study Group 5 makes no reference to any of the many women who have been serving parish communities without priests as ‘Pastoral Assistants’, or those women with vocations to ordination who have been seeking equality for more than 50 years. We call on Pope Leo XlV to promote the ordination of women as it is a scandal for our Church to treat women as inferior and subordinate to men, when Jesus continuously broke the law to free women from those oppressive laws. The patriarchal Church structures around the world have led to the physical, sexual and spiritual abuse of women. Our church urgently needs to ensure that all ministries and offices are based on the common dignity of baptism, personal competence and charisms. We Are Church International will continue to work and pray for the full equality of women in our communities at grassroots levels where real reforms are taking place. Synod Report (and reactions): On women’s participation in the life and leadership of the Church

    March 12 2026

FutureChurch welcomes many of the report’s findings—especially its affirmation of the gifts, talents, and wisdom women already bring to the life of the Church and the world. 🟣 At the same time, we recognize that the road to equity must include real engagement with the question of ordination and with the ways patriarchy remains embedded in the very fabric of the Church’s hierarchical structures. Roy Donovan ACP Leadership Team responds to Bishop Coll on Synodality…

    March 4 2026
    Paddy Ferry
I wondered @22 above if John Dominic Crossan is still with us. Well, he obviously is. I found this below in Commonweal drawing our attention to a new book he has co-authored on his favourite subject, Jesus. This is an advertisement. Commonweal partners with advertisers to bring you information that may be of interest. Our advertisers help support our publishing mission. Organizing for God’s reign on earth then and now Jesus and Justice presents the life of the historical Jesus as a bold and transformative call to action, inviting readers to actively follow his nonviolent and revolutionary example. Grounded in rigorous historical analysis, the authors show how Jesus organized a grassroots movement of poor and marginalized peasants to confront the Roman Empire’s economic, political, and ideological domination—an imperial system with striking parallels to today’s corporate-driven global order. The book reveals Jesus’s message as a radically anti-imperial vision of God’s Reign: a collaborative, egalitarian and justice-centered alternative to systems built on scarcity and oppression. Drawing connections to modern movements led by figures like Martin Luther King Jr., Dolores Huerta and Cesar Chavez, Crossan and Okinczyc-Cruz offer a powerful spiritual and theological framework for confronting contemporary injustice. Jesus and Justice challenges readers to embrace Jesus’s original revolutionary program of love, mercy and nonviolent action and equips them to respond to God’s call for participatory protagonism through committed, organized action for God’s Reign on Earth.
