5th Sunday in Ordinary Time – Bidding prayers

Introduction (by the Presider): God’s love is eternal, so with confidence we present our needs.

  1. For all who are called to be apostles and preachers today, that they may not give up (pause for quiet prayer).  Lord, hear us.
  2. For our children and young people, that they may value our Christian beliefs (pause for quiet prayer).  Lord, hear us.
  3. For fishermen, that they have divine protection against every storm (pause for quiet prayer).  Lord, hear us.
  4. For those who are sick, that God may help them to be patient (pause for quiet prayer).  Lord, hear us.
  5. For those who care for the sick, that our support may make their task easier (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  6. For ourselves, as Lent approaches, that we may be more temperate (pause for quiet prayer).  Lord, hear us.

 

The Presider prays for the dead, especially fishermen lost at sea and all who have died tragically: ‘that they may have calm and rest with God, who is our peace’ (pause for quiet prayer): Lord, hear us.

Then:

Conclusion (by the Presider):Loving God, your faithfulness has no bounds: let your hand guide your people, who bring their prayers in faith, through  Christ our Lord. Amen.
