Bidding Prayers for 1st January 2023 (Feast of Mary, Mother of God)

BIDDING PRAYERS for Sunday Mass on New Year’s Day

Introduction (by the Presider) God graciously blesses all of humanity, so we can bring forward our needs with confidence:

  1. That the world may have peace in 2023 (pause for a moment). Lord, hear us
  2. That God may be close to Pope Benedict in his sickness (pause for a moment). Lord, hear us.
  3. That the new year may find us firm in faith (pause for a moment). Lord hear us.
  4. That our families may be places of forgiveness (pause for a moment). Lord hear us
  5. That people who are sick may get better (pause for a moment). Lord hear us.
  6. That mothers of all ages may be blessed by the Mother of God (pause for a moment). Lord hear us.

The presider prays for the dead: That perpetual light may shine on all our dead, especially those taken from us in the last twelve months — whom we remember now… (pause for quiet prayer)  Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider) Gracious God, you bless your people with peace and justice: accept our prayers and give us your help, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
