Pentecost Sunday — Bidding prayers

Introduction (by the Presider): Conscious of the Spirit praying within us, let us present our petitions with confidence:

  1. That the Holy Spirit may fill the leaders of the Church (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  2. That the Holy Spirit may be close to people baptised at Easter (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  3. That the Holy Spirit may be with those confirmed this year and last year (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  4. The the Holy Spirit may help people turn  from war to peace (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  5. That the Holy Spirit may inspire students facing exams (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.
  6. That the Holy Spirit may bring healing to the sick and depressed (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.

The presider prays for the dead, those who died during the week and those whose anniversaries occur, ‘that the Holy Spirit may raise to new life all who have died ’ (pause for quiet prayer). Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider): God our Creator, your Spirit brings us to life and sustains us. Hear the prayers we are inspired to make, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
