  1. The bishop of Limburg has now been suspended, presumably for aspiring to a life of luxury. However, the person who appointed him lived in a grand palace, built from the proceeds of selling indulgences centuries ago filled with priceless works of art, and who dressed in gorgeous vestments. What could be more natural that the bishop of Limburg should want a slice of the action? Furthermore the manner of his appointment, as of all other bishops, by a kind of royal prerogative only served to elevate him above the common herd. Maybe his fault is that he adopted the values of the Vatican.
