Bidding Prayers for 5 March (Second Sunday of Lent)

BIDDING PRAYERS for Sunday Mass on 5 March

Introduction (by the Presider)  Let us bring our prayers to God, who loves justice and right:

  1. For us, as we continue on our lenten journey (pause for five seconds). Lord, hear us
  2. For Christians being persecuted, that we may not forget them (pause for five seconds). Lord, hear us.
  3. For the Jewish people, the children of Abraham, we pray (pause for five seconds). Lord hear us.
  4. For those who are starving in a world of plenty, we pray (pause for five seconds). Lord hear us
  5. For people suffering because of war or violence, we pray (pause for five seconds). Lord hear us.
  6. For our friends and neighbours who are sick, we pray (pause for five seconds). Lord hear us.

The Presider prays for the dead: For those who have gone before us in faith (especially N.& N. who died recently and N. & N. whose anniversaries occur), we pray for them now (pause for quiet prayer)  Lord, hear us.

Conclusion (by the Presider)  O Lord, you look with kindness on those who revere you: give us your help, for all our hope is in you. We make our prayer through Christ our Lord. Amen.
